"Scooby-dooby-doo, where are you?"
The Series - The Characters - The Movie
Scooby-Doo was a popular animated series featuring a group of kids and a talking dog going around solving mysteries in their van (The Mystery Machine). The episodes all kept to the same formula, and it was pretty easy to spot the outcome. The ghosts were never real, they were always the first - and usually 'only' - person they would meet, dressing up for some nasty reason. The gang would always solve the clues, and the bad guys would always have gotten away with the crime had it not been for 'those pesky kids'!
There were oodles! Not one, two, three... not ten! Too many to list here, so I've chosen to just named... um... five, that's a nice number.
Scooby-Doo Where Are You?
Original and best! Featuring ghost's who weren't really and the gang -
Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Velma & Daphne all going around in The Mystery
Machine.
The New Scooby And Scrappy Doo Show
Many believe that Scrappy ruined the whole show. I don't think he was
THAT bad, but no, not a massive improvement. This series followed, Scooby,
Scrappy, Shaggy and Daphne in The Mystery Machine (Real ghosts though!).
The 13 Ghosts Of Scooby-Doo
The series actually had an ongoing plot! It also teamed Scooby,
Scrappy, Shaggy & Daphne with Vincent Van Ghoul (voiced by Vincent Price),
and a character called Flim Flam. Scooby unleashed thirteen ghosts and
spent the series trying to get them back again.
A Pup Named Scooby-Doo
Think Muppet Babies - Scooby-style! A lot more cutesy-cartoony, with
the Scooby gang all young and 'animated', while Scooby get's a fantastic new dog
house (kind of Tardis like)
The New Scooby-Doo Movies
The gang get to solve mysteries with the help of famous people (voiced by
the stars themselves) featuring Batman & Robin, Sonny & Cher and The
Harlem Globetrotters.
a full chronological listing of EVERY series and appearance
can be found in:

Shaggy
The scruffy, not to mention cowardly detective, and owner/best friend to
Scooby-Doo. Usually found wearing brown flares and a long green T-shirt.
Scooby-Doo
The star of the show, and loyal pal to Shaggy. Scooby - a
Great Dane - is the show's reluctant hero who would would rather be scoffing
down his favourite Scooby Snacks rather than solving mysteries. If being a
talking dog isn't enough for you, Scooby can be identified by his blue collar
with a gold diamond shaped tag with a 'S' on it.
Fred
The handsome leader of the Scooby Gang. Often the spokesperson for
the group, and seems to be the one who gets them the jobs. Fred is blond,
and wears white and blue clothes, usually sporting an orange neckerchief.
Velma
The brains of the group, and often the one to solve the clues.
She's the one with the annoying voice. Velma can be found wearing a glasses, an
big orange jumper and a bob-type haircut.
Daphne
The attractive babe, who we're all pretty sure Fred was having it away
with. Daphne kind of sat somewhere between Fred and Thelma but was mostly there
to look good - which she did very well. A cute red-head, Daphne wore a
purple dress, with a green neckerchief.
Scrappy-Doo
Scooby's annoying little nephew who turned up to help Scooby and Fred
solve a load of mysteries. A bit too playful at times, and often got
himself into trouble... 'Puppy Power'.
Scooby-Dum
Um... Scooby's grey brother (I think), a bit on the thick side, but was a
bit of a laugh.

2002 sees the new live action movie of Scooby-Doo. Scooby himself will be a completely CGI, and looks to be as close to the cartoon as possible. The film, unlike he series, will actually feature REAL ghosts and not some guy dressed up as one.
The Movie Cast
Matthew Lillard (Shaggy), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne), Freddie Prinze Jr
(Fred)
Linda Cardellini (Thelma), Rowan Atkinson (Mondavarious),
