"Thunder.... Thunder.... ThunderCats.... Hooooooooooo!"
From beyond any know galaxy, bringing with them the laws and ideals of their doomed planet, come the THUNDERCATS. These brave and courageous super-heroes carry with them the powerful Sword of Omens which contains the source of power for all the THUNDERCATS.
The Characters
Lord Of The ThunderCats, Lion-O was just a
small boy when Thundera was destroyed, but upon landing on Third Earth he found
himself in the body of a grown man. He's had a tough time adapting to his
role as leader, but in true ThunderCats form, he's accepted his position and
carries out his duties honourably. Lion-O carries the Sword of Omens.
The ThunderCats' Engineer... responsible for such
creations as the ThunderTank, and the Feliner. Panthro's chosen weapon are
num-chucks.
The ThunderCats' scientist of sorts... often found
examining the plant life on Third Earth. Tygra's weapon was a Bola whip...
which allowed him to turn invisible.
Okay, so I'm not entirely sure Cheetara's role was within
the group... but she was very very fast! She also carried with a pocket
sized staff that, when needed, would expand into a full sized weapon.
The twins are always there to add a little mischief into a
situation. Although just children... their cunning was recognised by the
adults, and they were very welcome in critical events. Each rode a
hover-board, and carried special pellets that would do different things.
Lion-O's close friend and tutor... as well as head chef
for the rest of the ThunderCats.
Ben Gali was one of the ThunderCats who were rescued from
Thundera by some Berbils. On Thundera he was a highly respected blacksmith
and, on Third Earth, often been called upon to use his powerful hammer to fix
the Sword of Omens. Ben Gali is Tygra's younger brother.
Another one of the ThunderCats who joined the group
later.... Pumyra, with Ben Gali and Lynx-O - resides in the Tower Of Omens.
The living ThunderCat... Lynx-O was blinded whilst freeing
Thundera. He has since learned to use his senses to his advantage.
A close friend to Lion-O's father... he helped the young
lord and the other Cats to escape the crumbling planet. Sacrificing
himself to protect them... his spirit lived on to guide Lion-O in his role as
Lord Of The ThunderCats.
Mumm-Ra rules Third Earth with an Evil iron fist... until
the ThunderCats showed up on scene. He has made it his quest to make life
for the Cats as tough as possible. Although he may seen like a crinkly old
mummy-thing... when he calls upon the powers of evil he becomes the manic 'Mumm-Ra
- The Ever Living'!
S-S-Slithe is the leader of the Mutants - in their battle
against the ThunderCats... that is, however, they relocate to Third Earth, when
Mumm-Ra makes himself their master.
The erratic monkey-man carried with him a swinging mace,
and a Shield capable of shooting cannon balls.
The weasel Jackalman is more interested in covering his
back side rather than following the orders of Mumm-ra or S-S-Slithe.
One of the braver Mutants, and that's not saying much.
At first Willa, and her people saw the ThunderCats as
intruders... enemies even.... but she soon found herself helping - and being
helped in the ongoing fight against Mumm-Ra
Another Third Earth dweller who at first saw ThunderCats
as a threat... the noble Snowman - and his trusty Snow-meow has often proved
himself a great ally in times of need.
One of the first allies to be made by the ThunderCats...
they even helped the ThunderCats build their Cats Lair. It later became apparent
that the Berbils (friendly little robot bears) were aware of the ThunderCats
before the Cats knew of them... as it were some Berbils that rescued Ben Gali,
Pumyra and Lynx-O from the exploding planet of Thundera.
A goat-like character, almost acting like a Grim Reaper on
Third Earth... a character that made a big impact due to the destruction he
caused.
Grune is a rarity... an evil ThunderCat! He once
terrorised Thundera until he was imprisoned and jettisoned into space... finally
resting upon Third Earth... released by an unsuspecting passer by...and a
lightning storm... he set about to cause havoc on Third Earth... not expecting
to come up against the Lord Of The ThunderCats.
Another character to make his mark against the ThunderCats...
Safari Joe was a bounty hunter who decided to get his best prize yet... the
ThunderCats. Separating the group, he took the 'divided we fall'
approach... but still... he was no match for the ThunderCats.
A group of Third Earth pirates that - like so many others
- cause havoc across the planet. Lead by Hammer-Hand... the Berserker
Pirates have caused many problems for Lion-O... truly making their mark when the
ThunderCats found that they had the new arrivals - Ben Gali & Co.
